GelatoConnect Integration

Order Desk can add print details and submit your print on demand orders to GelatoConnect. As orders are fulfilled, the shipment info will automatically be pulled back into Order Desk and sent back to the original shopping cart, if your store is set up for it.

This guide covers how to connect your GelatoConnect account to Order Desk, set up the integration, and send print on demand orders with the correct product and shipping details.

Setup

To connect to GelatoConnect, click on Manage Integrations in the left sidebar. Under the Print on Demand tab, find and click to enable the GelatoConnect integration.

Alternatively, search for GelatoConnect from the available integrations search, then click Enable.

Enter your GelatoConnect credentials (API Key, Printer ID and Connector ID), then click the Save Changes button to connect:

đź’ˇ FINDING YOUR CREDENTIALS

Order Desk isn’t able to help find or reset these credentials, as they can only be provided and managed by GelatoConnect. The best way to locate them is to reach out directly to someone on the GelatoConnect team for support.

Integration Settings

Once connected, you will have a few settings where you can set your preferences for this integration.

Default Mail Class

Choose the mail class (shipping method) you want GelatoConnect to use for orders by default. If you need to apply specific methods for certain orders, you can match your method names to the ones GelatoConnect uses. See the Shipping Class Match section below for more info.

After Import, Move To

Select the folder you want orders to be moved into after they are sent to GelatoConnect.

If you want to use a custom folder, it is possible to create your own from the store settings. See the Working with Folders guide for more information.

After Shipment, Move To

Select the folder you want orders to be moved into when GelatoConnect sends shipment details back into Order Desk.

If Canceled, Move To

Select the folder the order should be moved to if canceled at GelatoConnect.

Currency

Choose the currency we should use for your order exports.

Product Code Match

For detailed information on what these product settings within the GelatoConnect integration do, please read the Print on Demand Product Settings guide.

Shipping Class Match

If the shipping methods you set up in your shopping cart(s) don't match the shipping method names GelatoConnect uses, they won't know what methods you intend for them to use. When this happens, the Default Mail Class applied above will be used instead for all of your orders.

To tell GelatoConnect what methods you want them to use, you will need to match your method names to theirs. This can be done in the shipping class match section. For detailed instructions on setting this up, please read through the shipping class match guide.

Sending Orders to GelatoConnect

Getting your orders ready to send to GelatoConnect will take some set up time. For a detailed walkthrough of how to use Order Desk with your Print on Demand orders, please read through our Print on Demand Fulfillment guide.

Preparing Your Items

To send items to GelatoConnect, you'll need to provide details about the blank product you're printing on and the artwork files you want them to print.

There are two ways to identify the blank product: you can either use the GelatoConnect product code (also called UID), or use a combination of the product variant name with its attributes.

At least one artwork file is required for all items. You can find a breakdown of how to set all those details below:

Field Name Description When to Use
print_sku The GelatoConnect product code (or product UID). Required if using the product UID
ProductVariant Name of the product variant to match against GelatoConnect’s catalog. Required if using a product variant name
VariantAttributeKey_x The attribute name, such as Size or Color. Replace x with a number up to 10. Required with ProductVariant
VariantAttributeValue_x The matching value for each key (e.g., XL, Black). Replace x with a number up to 10. Required with ProductVariant
print_url_x Link to the artwork file. Replace x with a number up to 5. Required At least one for all items.
print_location_x The location where the artwork should be placed. It must match the print_url_x index. Optional When using print_url_x.

đź’ˇ IN SUMMARY

If a print_sku is provided, we’ll use it directly to match the product code of the blank item in GelatoConnect. If ProductVariant is used instead, you must include matching VariantAttributeKey_x and VariantAttributeValue_x fields to identify the correct variant.

For example, VariantAttributeKey_1 can be set to Color and VariantAttributeValue_1 to Black. This means you're setting "Color" as the first variant, with a value of "Black".

Preparing Your Orders

The following details can be submitted for an order as either checkout data or order metadata.

Field Name Field Description
OrderType Use this field to set the order type. If not set, it will default to order.
ShipmentMethod Use this field to override the shipping class match on an order by order basis.
You can set either the GelatoConnect unique identifier (UID) of the shipment method (e.g. fed_ex_2_day), the shipping carrier name (e.g. DHL), or the shipping option tier (e.g. Express).

If you are unfamiliar with checkout data, see the How to Work with Checkout Data guide.
